CMac:

What’s with all the paperwork?
A few reasons, but here are the big ones:
* It helps us keep track of who hired us, to do what, when, for how much, etc. These records have helped with a number of investigations so far, and will probably continue to do so.
* We get a record of who goes out on missions when, so we can get an idea of whether missions are always going to the same people, getting spread around reasonably fairly, etc.
* It helps keep track of how much money came in for the purposes of:
** Calculating band-wide shares
** Paying the band’s taxes to the Réig (10% of almost all income)

We pay taxes?
Yep! Strictly speaking, a tithe. The band has been somewhat accurately described as ‘land privateers’ — we fork up a tenth of our take to the Reig for the privilege. The only exception to this rule is the rare occasion when the client is the Reig themselves. In those cases, there’s no tax.

The tax payment is taken entirely out of the 50% of each contract the band keeps. 20% of that 50%, so 10% of the total, is set aside for the Reig.

What’s this ‘shares’ business?
Following the first few events, which had a very uneven distribution of income — skewed heavily towards those fighty types who were lucky/cunning enough to be first to sign up for jobs — we instituted a larger cut of each contract for the band.

We use a lot of this cut to pay shares out to each member of the band who attended the event. The amount of these shares is usually related to how much the band earned over the course of the event, though sometimes it gets topped up a little out of reserves if the event was particularly light on coin. Historically shares have been between 25 and 50 pingin.

These shares are intended to compensate for general 'being there' duties like fighting in defence of camp, running out on missions where a random group of people save someone's family/cow/whatever for the six pingin and a bit of string they had in their pocket, participating in rituals (though you might get a bonus if you do that a lot) etc.

Division of shares
Shares are divided up as follows:
* Anyone who set foot on the field: 1 share
* Officers of the band: 1 additional share
* Additional shares are also given to most officers to distribute to those who have assisted in their area:
** The camp, watch, cinire, and wizardry officers each get a similarly sized pool, usually around 5 shares
** The recon officer is given a roughly equivalent sum of money to purchase information, services, or whatever else they require
** The quartermaster usually takes a share or two to pay a deputy and maybe someone who guarded the money, though that’s often covered by the watch officer
** A slightly larger pool is shared between the Thane’s Lt. and Deputy Thane’s Lt. to cover anything not covered in the above

Ok, but how do I get my money?
Your money is always there for you on an account in the band's books. If you have a lot, this is probably a safer place to keep some of it than on your belt.

If you want to get hard cash, this is something that is constantly being improved, but you can currently get pay for a mission at almost (see below) any time after a mission has been completed, the paperwork filled out, and payment received. Those tend to all happen within about five minutes of each other, so it’s usually pretty quickly after the return to camp.

Shares are usually available from late Sunday morning or early Sunday afternoon, as it takes until around then to know how much we’re getting paid overall and to get most of the payments in hand. Then there’s a bit of maths and the shares start going out.

In summary: missions whenever, shares on Sunday. There is an exception to this: Handing out specific payments for missions takes time and requires updating the records of who has taken pay and who is still owed it for a particular job, or set of jobs, and the share distribution tends to cause a queue to form. For the sanity of everyone involved and to avoid a 30 minute queue, once that’s happened you can only collect your share — they’re counted out in advance and the record keeping is just ticking you name off a list.

Why the IC list?
The list has to be collected IC because sharing the OOC sign-in list in any form with the players of the QM, officers, and anyone else who reads the accounts — even in the form of character names — is potentially not on under GDPR, and it’s better to be safe than sorry with these things.

I didn’t get my name on the list
If you notice that within the next event or two, just let the QM know and you’ll be added, trusting in the spirit of the fourth oath to keep you from scamming us. The list gets posted to the discord (the player of the QM is not an organisation and therefore not bound by GDPR) for people to review and add their characters’ names to if required.

If it’s years later, that’s probably just hard luck — we can’t be in a position where there might be hundreds of pingin the band owes but we don’t know about.

I need money from my account to buy something in downtime
The band keeps a small amount of money in the downtime system (so we don't make the team count too many coins). This should usually be enough to cover a few transfers out of character accounts, if you contact the quartermaster and ask for them.

Large transfers, or transfers once the pool of money has run out, can still be handled by moving money between characters' IC accounts.

What happens to the rest of the money?
A variety of things:
*Some is used to commission or buy information and items on behalf of the band
*Some is used to top up the shares in the event things are lean
*Some is kept set aside for emergencies
*Some is kept set aside for Bruid

Is there an audit of the books?
Thus far there has been an internal audit, and there has also been an audit conducted by the Reig's Reckoners. Neither found any issues with the book keeping. The Reckoners had some questions about the band's general conduct. The quartermaster, having been appropriately mushroomed on certain endeavours, was unable to assist them with most of these.

You can ask for details on your own account whenever you like. Details of others' accounts are private without sufficient authority.

They reside in the swamps in western Uasa, near the Draíod border, in the remaining tower of a once-grand castle that has now mostly slid into the mud. The House has a morbid sensibility, with many of its members joining the Order of Necromancers.

CMac: Fix typo

The Church of the Shaper binds and sustains the social fabric of the Five Realms. Five Realms society is highly martial in its outlook and values, and without the Church to guide it, it would have dissolved into endless warfare long ago. The core of the Church's beliefs relate to the Shaper.
<noinclude>
The Virtues of the Church
The Shaper’s Church holds up 10 virtues that mortals should strive for in their lives, with each Order of the Church focusing on different Aspects. The 10 virtues are: Ambition, Prosperity, Loyalty, Compassion, Duty, Perseverance, Clarity, Wisdom, Vigilance, and Courage. While the Church generally avoids dictating what their children should not do and considers honest atonement possible for most transgressions, there are two big exceptions which are generally unforgivable crimes: wilfully raising Undead Abominations (an act known as Graverobbing) and knowingly conspiring with the Gwyllt.

In the realm of the Shaper, their power is without limit. In the mortal world, their power is opposed by the power of the Gwyllt, evil beings who come from another realm to corrupt and devour the Shaper’s children. The children of the Shaper must protect themselves against the Gwyllt, or else they will be lost.

Cinnire and the Five Orders
For more information, see Cinnire

The Church of the Shaper venerates all aspects of the Shaper, and the cinnirí dedicate their lives to the Shaper’s service and lead the people in this worship. The cinnirí have over time realised they can best aid the Shaper’s children in certain ways, and this is the origin of the five Orders as they stand today. The Orders do not hold themselves apart from Five Realms society, since that is not the Shaper’s way. They have families and they work and fight alongside other people. There are five Orders: the Teachers, the Counsellors, the Hospitaliers, the Necromancers and the Torchbearers.

There is no one figure in charge of the Church of the Shaper, though there is the Council of Prelates, the six heads of the five orders. Each is the recognised head of their respective order, generally as the most expert or knowledgeable in their field. While they provide the benefit of their experience to members of their order one of their main duties is to advise the Réig and provide them with the services of their order (for example, the Prelate of the Counsellors is the Réig’s personal confessor). While no Prelate is above the others, the Prelate of the Counsellors is expected to chair any meetings of the Council of Prelates and be the tie-break in any deadlocks.

Treatment of the Dead
Given the prevalence of undead in Tirneach, funerary rites and proper treatment of the dead and the bereaved is important. Though the specifics vary from region to region, there is a general common form.

First, as soon as possible after the death it is established if the Quicken the Inevitable Solace ritual will be necessary. This is more common in small rural communities than in larger cities, where the threat of the undead seems much more pressing than the benefits of preserving knowledge through the ages (and as some in the cities snidely say, much less knowledge worth preserving.) But it is not unheard of in cities, particularly where the deceased might have secrets the living would prefer lost to time. If it is going to be performed, it happens as soon as possible, with just the closest friends and family present (and any necessary help to perform the ritual.)

Following this is a vigil period that varies in length depending on the perceived safety of the environment and the status of the person, this is the window in which displays of grief are considered appropriate and acceptable. Vigils tend to be longer in Siabhal and shorter in Bruid; a gallóglach in the field generally has a very brief vigil. Once the vigil has ended the body is disposed of and there is a celebration that varies in length depending on practicality and the status of the person.

Methods of disposal are highly regional; cremation is most common in Siabhal, cairns are common in Baol though the more Siabhal aspirational lowlanders have moved to cremation, Uasa typically uses their rivers and sea to dispose of their dead in ships of size and quality depending on their status, massive and impenetrable tombs are common in Draíod particularly for the most learned of scholars, and in Bruid the more northerly areas favour cremation or burial at sea if it is a coastal settlement, while in the forest proper people speak of the dead being left in clearings for the animals, with varying degrees of ceremony and ritual. But while these are the common trends, every village and settlement will have its own specific customs.

Important Locations of the Faith
Citadel of the Shaper
Located in Corroch, Uasa, the Citadel of the Shaper is primarily where the Council of Prelates are based, so that they are on hand to advise the Réig in their respective fields. Though cinnirí do not hold themselves apart from society, many do consider the Citadel a home away from home and visit regularly to consult with their prelates. As well as meeting chambers, lecture halls, gardens, and training fields the citadel is also home to the Carrot and Stick Tavern, run by the Order of Teachers.

The Great Library
Based in Uaircinn, Baol, the Great Library is a repository of knowledge, primarily dedicated to the many aspects of the Shaper, which rivals the greatest libraries of Draíod in terms of non-arcane content. It was founded and is maintained as a joint effort between the Iarlas of Baol and the Order of Teachers.

The Shrine of the Shaper
Located deep under the ground in Crag Oscionn, Draíod. The Shrine of the Shaper is a huge diamond-shaped chamber carved into the rock itself, and pilgrims traverse it by means of steps, platforms and walkways. It is said that the Shaper’s presence can be felt by those who go there on special feast days. When the Réig makes their pilgrimage there no-one except for members of the Council of Prelates is allowed to attend.

The Shaper’s Steps
An archipelago off the northeastern coast of Siabhal, located in the Shaper’s Sea, which was known as the Howling Sea before the coming of the first Réig. Stories tell that the First Réig caused gigantic rocks to rain down from the sky, creating a land bridge from the Eastern Reaches all the way to Tirneach. Over the years almost every trace has disappeared except for the largest rocks near the end of the crossing, which now form the islands known as the Shaper’s Steps. Despite their name, the island is not a part of the Five Realms and is not under the jurisdiction of the Réig.

The Shaper's Table
“All may eat at the table of the Shaper in their hour of need”

The Shaper's Table is a tradition which is practiced throughout Tírneach in almost every place of worship. Offerings are placed on the altar, most often food, but also other needful things like bandages. Anyone who needs something may take it, but when they are able, they must put something on an altar in its place.

This tradition takes many different forms; a rough-hewn slab at a wayside shrine might have a bottle of water, some dried fruit stored in a jar to keep insects away, and perhaps some kindling similarly protected from the elements. By contrast the church altar in a prosperous town might have a number of Hospitaliers working to ensure that large donations left by wealthy townsfolk eager to help their community (and demonstrate their wealth and piety) are properly stored and distributed. A band of Gallóglaigh will often have a small shrine that they take with them from one mission to another, taking pride of place in a communal tent. An altar made by the Gallóglaigh will always have bandages.

From time to time, there are stories of miracles, where an altar seems to keep giving even when no one around has more than a prayer to give. Lost children in the wilderness who find everything they need on a wayside shrine when it only held the blackberries they placed there when they went to bed. Communities hit by crop failure, sickness or shipwrecks who don’t have enough to survive the winter, but somehow there is always enough for one more day on the altar until times are better. There are also stories of the terrible fates that befall anyone so low and mean that they would take from an altar and not return anything.

<blockquote>OOC: You can find the Shaper’s Table in the command tent. It will contain fruit and other assorted things that are IC useful. There will be a box that will contain things that are OOC useful such as safety pins, cable ties, bug spray, sunblock, sanitary products etc. The principle of the thing is pretty much as explained IC, take a thing now, give a thing later. Pay it forward, the Shaper is watching you. Double Check to make sure nothing you place on the table contains nuts. Even if we haven’t declared a nut free site, we can’t risk contaminating the set dressing.</blockquote>
The descendants of the Distant Patter of Gentle Showers, this Uasan House is of low standing among the Houses. Though they may have held better reputation in the distant past, they are looked down on for their poor Ambition, being content to maintain a modest bean farm and tend to the healing and magical needs of the local populace. They reside in the swamps in western Uasa, near the Draíod border, in the remaining tower of a once-grand castle that has now mostly slid into the mud. The House has a morbid sensibility, with many of its members joining the Order of Necromancers.

Welcome to the currently rather bare-bones and definitely unofficial wiki for the Five Oaths Live Action Roleplaying Game.

What is Five Oaths
Five Oaths is a Live-Action Roleplaying game. This means it is a collaborative storytelling and adventure game in which the players portray their characters and interact with the game world presented by the Event Team. Unlike tabletop roleplaying games, players portray their character at Five Oaths events by putting on a costume and doing and saying whatever their character does or says.

In the game, you will be both audience and author of your character’s story and the stories of the characters around you. Combat makes up a significant portion of the adventure aspect of the game as Player Characters
face off against menacing ne’er-do-wells and dangerous monsters of all sorts. Combat in Five Oaths is resolved with the use of (carefully safety-checked) foam and latex replicas of swords, axes, and other assorted
weaponry. There is also, usually, camping as the events take place over the course of a weekend.

The world of Five Oaths takes inspiration from medieval Ireland, though no knowledge of this period is required to enjoy the game. All player characters in the game live in the Five Realms of Tirneach (tear-knock) and are members of an elite class of warriors known as the Gallóglaigh (gallow-glee). These warriors swear Five Oaths to serve their god, their ruler, their nation, and each other. From then on they are specially empowered mercenaries, wandering the Five Realms looking to make a name for themselves, and earn some money along the way.

How do I play Five Oaths
The game takes place in person, usually in a large outdoor space with a mixture of fields and woodland. You will act as your character during the game. Your character can be as similar or dissimilar to you in personality and appearance as you like but any differences in appearance should be represented by costuming where possible. During the game you will be “in character” and expected to respond to the world and other players as your character would. Much of the game time is spent in this improvised roleplay with other characters, who may be other players or non-player-characters created by the event team.

Combat is carried out in real-time using foam weapons and roleplayed effects. If you want to defeat a monster you’ll have to go over there and thwack them until they fall over. All characters and monsters have a certain number of body hits, which they can potentially protect with armour. If you strike another character with a weapon they’ll lose hit points or armour, eventually becoming incapacited or dead. While you do actually strike other players during combat, it’s important to note that your blows should always be pulled. If your blows cause actual pain to another player, you are hitting them too hard.

Special effects, such as magic, are handled using a system of keywords. A character who has the feats necessary to cast magic will take a moment to prepare and then call out the effect and the target or could, together with others, engage in a longer ‘ritual’ to create a more powerful effect.

The mechanics for the game are outlined in the Rulebook which includes the process of making a character. In short, you will choose a species and a homeland, and then decide what kind of skills and experience your character has.

There are many different approaches to character creation. Some people choose to build their character based on what kind of role they wish to play in combat, or how they want to interact with other characters. Others choose to create a character based on who they think it would be fun to portray for a weekend. Some decide on their concept based on which options provide the most interesting or least taxing costuming opportunities. It’s up to you what takes your interest.

One thing to keep in mind when creating a character is that it is beneficial if they are curious, or ambitious, and generally ready to get involved in the world around them. A character with these drives will help you engage with the game and other characters.

Your character’s skills in the game are defined by Feats. Once again the rulebook covers these in detail. Feats will determine whether your character is particularly tough, what kind of armour they use, whether or not they can use magic, and what other kinds of fun tricks they have up their sleeves. They’ll also allow you to gain extra information about the game world or craft useful items in the time between games.
Drakeblooded Swamp Wizard
House Gentle Showers

Máirtín is the 3rd child of the heads of House Gentle Showers, a Drakeblooded House from the swamps of Uasa, descendants of the Distant Patter of Gentle Showers.

House Gentle Showers is notable among the Houses for not being notable for anything. For as long as the Réig has ruled these lands, House Gentle Showers has been humble and content with little acclaim, lowest in esteem among the Houses. They are content to administer over their moderate holdings and sit at the bottom rung of the Drakeblooded Houses. Locally they are known for their healing, protection magics and rituals, tending to the needs of the local area. At one time Gentle Showers lived in a grand castle in western Uasa, but now it sinks lower and lower into the muds of the swamps with the family living in just the single lopsided tower that now remains above the surface.

"The rain washes all things away in their time, even us" they are prone to saying.

Máirtín is considered the problem child of the House as he does not accept eternal mediocrity. He is determined to make Gentle Showers a name of awe across the realms.

Cumhacht na Réig

Máirtín joined Cumhacht na Réig during the Season of Smiling, seeking to raise the stock of his family through great deeds with this great band of warriors.

During the Season of Graves, Máirtín was appointed Acting Wizard At Arms for the Friday night, but later declared his support of Alelia for the role.

Facts about Máirtín
*An Arcane Ritualist, often drawing upon the power of Cleansing Rain
*Hair always a mess as a result of all the static electricity he generates
*Proud user of the Seanteanga
*Has a lot of family in the Necromancers

Never formally decommissioned after Maeláine took the crown, during the Season of Uncertainty the regent recognised Aster Ua Larkspur as the standing Thane of that band. Letters were posted in many towns and villages claimeing that Aster had been given authority over all Gallóglaigh who had been separated from their bands, who were ordered to join her to receive further orders. The letters also specified that any Gallóglach travelling to meet Aster was to do all they could to ensure the safety of the roads and outlying settlements as they travelled. The orders did not specify Aster’s location.
Many initially took the orders to be a hoax or perhaps some kind of trap but the Regent did nothing to disavow Aster’s claim to authority and as the months went on “members” of the Golden Knives began to be seen wandering the roads of Tirneach.
The Drakeblooded Houses are the inheritors of the legacy of the Storm Dragons. Every Drakeblooded can trace their lineage back to the dragons of old, and the Drakeblooded Houses keep careful family trees and hold tight to their traditional duties. Virtually every Drakeblooded is a member of one of the ancient houses, though there are a few individuals who are unfortunate enough to be unclaimed at birth or exiled later in life. Exiles are encouraged to allow their children to be adopted by members of their ancestral house in good standing and it is unusual for them to refuse. The Houses take their reputations very seriously and any scion of the house who is spending more reputation than they’re contributing won’t be left uncorrected for long.
House Gentle Showers

Máirtín is the 3rd child of the heads of House Gentle Showers, a Drakeblooded House from the swamps of Uasa.

House Gentle Showers is notable among the Houses for not being notable for anything. As far back as people care to remember, House Gentle Showers has been humble and content to mediocrity, lowest in esteem among the Houses. They are content to administer over their moderate holdings and sit at the bottom rung of the Drakeblooded Houses. Locally they are known for their healing and protection magics and rituals, tending to the needs of the local area.

Though they may have held better reputation in the distant past, they are looked down on for their poor Ambition, being content to maintain a modest bean farm and tend to the healing and magical needs of the local populace. They reside in the swamps in western Uasa, near the Draíod border, in the remaining tower of a once-grand castle that has now mostly slid into the mud. The House has a morbid sensibility, with many of its members joining the Order of Necromancers.
Quotation of a Drakeblooded
“The dragons are gone, but we remain. Their blood courses through our veins, and while we stand they are not forgotten. We belong to the storm, and we fight with pride.” – The Creed of House Roaring Thunder

Who are the Drakeblooded
Fierce, proud and determined to live up to the legacy of their ancestors, the Drakeblooded are one of the playable species in Five Oaths. If you’re playing a Drakeblooded, your character could be a member of one of the great Drakeblooded Houses and an heir to an age-old tradition. Or perhaps due to a terrible defeat you were fostered as a child, either to another House not your own or even another species, and you strive to surpass the memory of what you have lost. A Drakeblooded character inherits a rich history, and carries it with them wherever they go.

The Drakeblooded Houses are great bloodlines, traced back to the days when the storm dragons still ruled the skies above Tirneach. These days, you could find a member of any of the Drakeblooded Houses almost anywhere in the Five Realms, especially in places with a sense of history and tradition, only coming together for the Bloodmeet once every five years. The exception to this is House Roaring Thunder, who are sworn to protect the Réig and their family and so will be found mainly in Uasa or abroad with royalty.

Drakeblooded often seek greater glory and wealth amongst the gallóglaigh, where they are welcomed due to their reputation as warriors and the storm magics they can deploy, using the power of the ancient dragons that flows through their veins. Though they can be haughty and superior, Drakeblooded are typically loyal to those they consider worthy of it.

Origins of the Drakeblooded
Long ago, dragons walked the lands, flew in the skies and swam in the seas. Not only were they colossal beasts, but they were also shrewdly intelligent and powerful in magic. It is believed they were first made by the Shaper to act as heralds to all of the Shaper’s children, and guardians to sacred sites. Some of them lost their way, and terrorised the weaker species, demanding worship and tribute, but many more fulfilled their original purpose as protectors and sages. The dragons are gone now, long dead, but traces of their influence live on in their descendants, the Drakeblooded.

In Tirneach, there were Storm Dragons who lived in and guarded the most important shrines and places of power along coasts, rivers and mountaintops. Beings of thunder and lightning, howling winds and pummeling waves, they kept the shores of Tirneach safe from invaders, and destroyed the Gwyllt wherever they found them. Their descendants in Tirneach still hold some of their power, a tingle of lightning coursing through their veins, the echoing boom of thunder in their throat, and silver, green, or purples scales adorning their skin.

How the Drakeblooded view the other Species
Creidhe: They can’t fight, but they can fix just about anything. They are worth keeping in your land.

Fathach: We swore to protect this land, and they are big chunks of that same land torn up and stuffed with stolen magic. The Vartach have so much to answer for.

Firetouched: Our fiery cousins from the East lost their ancestors. And now here are people who claim fire courses through their blood? Don’t turn your back on them.

Humans: They will talk your ear off about all of their fantastic ideas on how to bring back dragons. Listen to them if they can ever actually follow through.

Krieger: Unwelcome invaders, our ancestors kept them out while they were still alive to guard our sacred shores.

Leasiar: Our ancestors guarded this entire land, not theirs. Theirs just lived here and leached off the land. Remember that.

Vartach: They killed our ancestors. Never forget. Never forgive.

Wildlings: The only ones who have as deep a connection to this land as we do, that earns them some respect.

If you’re playing a Drakeblooded, your character could be a member of one of the great Drakeblooded Houses and an heir to an age-old tradition. A Drakeblooded character inherits a rich history, and carries it with them wherever they go. The Drakeblooded are renowned throughout the Five Realms, and are generally welcomed as people of intrigue and majesty.

Drakeblooded are able to echo and control the fearsome powers of the dragons that spawned them. Drakeblooded characters start play with the Roar of the Dragon Feat, which allows them to instill fear in their enemies by channeling the dread voice of their ancestors. Drakeblooded Peacesworn characters instead recognise fear in others, and help to stoke their allies’ courage against threats they will face.

The Drakeblooded are renowned throughout the Five Realms, and are generally welcomed as people of intrigue and majesty. Some Drakeblooded may choose take advantage of this reputation for personal gain, although if they bring their House into disrepute too often they may get an unexpected visit from an angry cousin. Many Drakeblooded strive to live up to their name, and do great deeds as a consequence.

Drakeblooded Facebook group
Players of Drakeblooded characters can join the Drakeblooded Facebook group to collaborate with their fellow Drakeblooded players on things like culture, backgrounds, etc.

Costume requirements
To play the descendant of a dragon, you will need to get a little bit scaly! Drakeblooded have normal human skin tones, ranging from pale to dark, but overlaid on top of that is a pattern of scales, in silvers, greens, and purples. The event team will be putting up some tutorials on how you can make a scaly pattern that looks great and is reasonably easy to apply here on the Five Oaths website in the future, so keep an eye out for them!
Who are the Krieger?
Joyous, raucous, and fierce in battle, the Krieger are one of the playable species in Five Oaths. If you’re playing a Krieger, your character likely has an ancestor who raided towns and villages along the western coast of Tirneach, but they are just as likely to be descended from an heroic Kriegerish gallóglaigh who defended the common folk against the evil magic of the Gwyllt. Sometimes those Krieger were one and the same!

The Krieger respect strength and bravery, and will get along best with those who are not afraid to take risks and enjoy life. Krieger believe that the Shaper will reward Krieger (and especially deserving non-Krieger) who live their life to the full by sending them to an afterlife of endless feasting, drinking and war, which they call Glüch.

Krieger are most commonly found in the wilder realms of Bruid and Baol, but nowhere in the Five Realms is so settled and secure that a Kriegerish mercenary could not find work. Of course the Krieger have a not-entirely-undeserved reputation for banditry, piracy and general marauding, but since all Krieger will cheerfully deny any such activity it is hard to prove.

Origins of the Krieger
The Krieger came to Tirneach centuries ago from across the Sea of Fortunes to the west. They came at first as raiders, terrorising the settlements that lay on the western coast. These blue-skinned tusked invaders were terrifying to behold, and soon became notorious for their warcries and laughter in battle. Their victims called them demons, saying that their lust for blood and plunder could only be sated by the end of the world itself. There could be no peace with such people, and bands of militia were raised in the dozens to deal with the threat.

As they clashed with the gallóglaigh, the Krieger grew to understand that the folk of this peninsula were not weaklings after all, and began to respect their warrior prowess. This meant that more and more Krieger made the long journey over the sea in search of glorious battle. Soon they found that there were even better fights to be had in the depths of the forest where the Gwyllt and their creatures dwelled, and many decided to stay. Now the common folk had to fear Kriegerish bandits as well as sea raids. Something had to be done.

The legend that the first Réig travelled alone to the Kriegerish settlement now known as Zahnhafen, challenged their strongest warriors, and defeated them in unarmed combat is surely exaggerated, but in the end the Krieger chieftains swore allegiance to the crown. Many of them were granted lands in Bruid and Baol; lands which they had already occupied for many years. Nowadays they live side by side with their neighbours, never peaceful but often friendly.

How Krieger view the other Species
Creidhe: The young are far more fun than the old, I’ve seen one break down a wagon entirely in under 30 seconds.

Drakeblooded: I really wish I could have fought a dragon. They aren’t dragons.

Fathach: Made to fight, it would be more fun if it seemed like they were able to enjoy it. Still a challenge.

Firetouched: They have some excellent ships full of interesting cargo. I mean, had.

Humans: A Krieger soul stuck in a body that can’t fight. Better than most, and always a surprise.

Leasiar: Just because they *can* live longer than me, doesn’t mean they *will*. Especially if they keep talking.

Vartach: They made an entire species to fight for them? So they’re both sneaky and cowardly.

Wildlings: Anyone else brave enough to live in Bruid gets respect from me. Except for the ones who aren’t.

Playing a Krieger
A normal Krieger would probably get a frosty reception in the more civilised parts of the Five Realms. Kriegerish gallóglaigh benefit from the honourable reputation of their position. Some use this to their personal advantage, while others see it as only fair to play by the rules while they are part of a band.

In gameplay terms, Krieger are focused on big displays of strength and power. It is very hard to keep a Krieger down. The Back in the Fight Feat allows them to spend 3 Vigour to heal themselves when they become unconscious.

Krieger Facebook Group
The Krieger haven't yet made a Facebook Group - not enough smashing that 'like' button, am I right?

Costuming Requirements
to play a Krieger in Five Oaths LRP you will need to don some facepaint. Krieger are blue skinned, in a variety of hues, and their teeth often naturally grow into tusks which is seen as a sign that Krieger has inherited the prowess of their ancestors. All exposed skin should be painted blue. We recommend you use a good moisturiser underneath the facepaint to make it easier to apply and to remove!

You can get tusks from lots of costume and LARPing websites, the better products come with a putty you can mould to your teeth. You can use a product like Fixadent to help keep them in your mouth.
House Gentle Showers is remarkable among the Houses for not being notable for anything. As far back as people care to remember, House Gentle Showers has been humble and content to mediocrity, lowest in esteem among the Houses, as its ancestral castle sinks lower and lower into the muds of the swamps with only a single lopsided tower now above the surface.
